Nando's New Menu - Burgers Pita and Wrap Meals

I love to abuse my body. I am always game to stretch my bowels to their limit when it comes to spicy food (Read all the adventures of Spicybean here). I am sure that there are some of you that loves spicy food as much as I do!

Well, be excited because Nando's menu gets a snazzy makeover with NINE new tantalising treats bursting with crisp new ingredients and exciting flavours! If this is the first time you have heard about Nando's, it is a food outlet that offers a range of "peri peri" sauces to go along with your meal.

Nando's Singapore - Nando's Peri Peri Sauces

All items on the menu can be customised to suit your desired level of spiciness - from Lemon & Herb all the way to Extra Hot! Extra hot sounds especially exciting to me.

Of course, always be prepared for unforeseen circumstances. You think you might be able to handle a particular level of spiciness, but sometimes, as proud humans, we can overestimate our abilities. This is why you should always, ALWAYS, order a few glasses of drinks on stand-by.

Designer Drinks by Nando's ($4.90 each)

After ensuring that your drinks are ready, it's time to find out: "How peri-peri spicy can you go?"

Nandoca's Choice Burger (Ala Carte $16.90)

Nando's Singapore - Nandoca's Choice Burger

Level 0: Lemon & Herb

We started off with Nandoca's Choice Burger with Level 0 spiciness. The burger comes with a premium cut of flame grilled chicken breast topped with crunchy coleslaw and nestled within toasted garlic buns. Upon first bite, you can taste the fragrance of the garlic buns spreading in your mouth. The buns were toasted nicely, giving it a crisp exterior.

Despite my hate for chicken breast, this was made surprisingly good. It was tender and not extremely dry as you would expect from breast parts. This Nandoca's Choice Burger was executed really well. I would give #4.5evilbeans for this!

Chicken Pita (+2 Regular Sides $14.90)

Nando's Singapore - Chicken Pita

Level 1: Mild

Here comes level 1. This is their Chicken Pita that is served toasted and stuffed with tender chicken breast strips, crispy veggie salad and creamy whip. The mild spiciness lifts the taste of the salad and chicken breast. The one that gave me a surprise was the potato wedges!

Nando's Singapore - Potato Wedges

The wedges is EXACTLY how you would expect good wedges to taste like: delicious looking golden brown colour, crispy exterior and piping hot fluffy potato inside. Dip it in their peri-peri sauces for extreme pleasure.

Black Mushroom & Halloumi Wrap (Ala Carte $12.90)

Nando's Singapore - Black Mushroom & Halloumi Wrap

Level 2: Hot

Look at all those juices flowing out of this Black Mushroom & Halloumi Wrap. Served toasted, spread with chilli jam and topped with fresh lettuce and tangy yogurt sauce, this is the HEALTHIER CHOICE option if you are on a diet.

The Halloumi (a type of cheese) gives the wrap a rich, flavourful taste amongst the veggies. The mushrooms are juicy while the lettuce are crunchy, so you can totally imagine the sound that this makes when you bite into this.

Nando’s Steak Burger (+1 Regular Side $18.90)

Level 3: Extra Hot

Here comes the pain with LEVEL 3: EXTRA HOT Peri-Peri sauce on this Nando's Steak Burger. Made up of beef fillet topped with fresh rocket, pickled red onions, homemade PERinaise (a blend of Nando’s special light mayonnaise with PERi-PERi) and delectably spicy Red Pepper stuffed between toasted Portuguese roll, this was unfortunately, a disappointment.

The beef patty was quite dry and tasteless. The amount of vegetables that went into this burger also sort of overwhelmed the main character of this burger.

I was quite excited for this Level 3 spiciness, but alas, probably due to the fact that I love spicy food the Level 3: Extra Hot was quite manageable to me. It wasn't "Samyang Spicy Noodles" kind of hot, it was more like a few Scoville level above the McSpicy. If you do not get a kick out of McSpicy, this wouldn't faze you at all.

Level 3 Peri-Peri Spicy Rating (out of 5 Evilbeans):
  (3)

I do, however, strongly recommend the Nandoca's Choice Burger and their Designer Drinks! Do not forget their awesome wedges!

The fact that their spicy sauces are free-flow is a blessing for folks like us, who love to spam sauces on our food. No more chilli sauce that taste like ketchup. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO FOR YOUR SAUCES-BUFFET GUYS.
