Singapore Cafe Review - Lola's Cafe

Ask anyone that has been to Lola's cafe and they will most likely tell you their story of how they waited more than 30 mins/45 mins/1 hour for a table.

It's true.

Even after 3 years since its opening, you could still spot snaking queues outside the cafe - a testament to how good their food is.

I used to work in Lola's, and the environment there was fun, cozy and memorable. I have worked in F&B for almost all my teenage life, and Lola's cafe was the only one that made me look forward to work every day. Except for a few irritating customers and the sometimes PMS managers, I really enjoyed my time at Lola's.

The fun ambience + the awesome food is probably why Lola's cafe consistently come out as one of the must-go cafes in Singapore.

Mocha ($5.50)

The Mocha at Lola's is a bitch to make. When I was an assistant barista, I would moan (not that kind Smirk Emoji) whenever we get a chain combo of mocha orders. It takes quite a bit of time to prepare as there are many steps that go into a single cup of mocha.

But that is also why the mocha here is one of the best.

Well balanced with cocoa and aroma of coffee, the mocha at Lola's is really good. I had to control myself to not finish it in one gulp because of how smooth and velvety it was.

Honey Paprika Crispy Wings ($10)

I would always recommend everyone to give the honey paprika wings a go when they go to Lola's.

I used to spent half of my day's pay and order this after work as a "reward" because this is a happy food. Imagine those crispy wings, coated with the sweetness of honey and a dash of paprika, that crumble delightfully in your mouth, revealing the soft, juicy meat underneath. SO ADDICTIVE. 8 pieces of these heavenly wings can sometimes be too little for me.

Insider tip: Ask for more honey and more paprika if you prefer heavier taste.

Avocado Eggs Benedict ($14)

After having so many eggs benedict over the years, I can vouch that Lola's eggs ben is still ONE OF THE BEST in Singapore.

Consisting of brioche bread, avocado, poached eggs, pork ham, hollandaise sauce and mesclun & lemon dressing, this avocado eggs benedict is for people who love the feeling of rich, creamy hollandaise sauce and perfectly poached eggs overflowing in your mouth.

Pure bliss.

Odd Fellow ($7)

Made with passionfruit curd, basil ice cream, cereal crumbs and meringue, this is the perfect palette cleanser. I really like how everything just went together - doesn't feel like an odd fellow at all! Plus point? The plating is gorgeous.

Lemon Meringue Tart ($5)

You will wince at some of the prices of Lemon Meringue tarts out there when you find out just how cheap (and good) they are at Lola's! At only $5, we get a tart that can cure all sorts of cravings with its sweet and sour flavours. You have to get a piece of this if you love sourish desserts!

There are so many good things to say about Lola's - the ambience, the music, the friendly staff and the NETT PRICES. Lola's is like the epitome of a great cafe in Singapore, and I am proud to have worked in this establishment.
